Special Operations Bureau

      The Special Operations Bureau (SOB) is a plain clothes unit whose primary responsibility is the enforcement of state statutes and city ordinances involving drugs.  SOB officers conduct drug investigations using surveillance operations, confidential informants, and drug buys.  SOB officers also execute search warrants on homes where probable cause exists that drug activity is occurring.  All arrests involving drugs that originate from road patrol officers are investigated and processed by the SOB.   Additionally, SOB officers have responsibilty for enforcement of vice crimes including gambling, prostitution and Michigan liquor laws.
