Community Emerg. Response Team
The Dearborn Heights Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates its members about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, search and rescue, severe weather/flooding safety, team organization, and disaster medical operations/first aid.
Nearly 100 individuals who either live or work in
Dearborn Heights have completed the nine-week
training program, and now belong to the family of
Dearborn Heights CERT members.
Utilizing both classroom and "hands-on" training, CERT members learn how to better prepare themselves in case of large-scale emergencies, and how to assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following such events – particularly in instances where professional responders (Police/Fire/EMS) are not immediately available.
