Administration

       The administration of the police department is responsible for the overall management and direction of the department and consists of the Chief of Police and two captains.  The Dearborn Heights Police Department is functionally organized into two divisions with a captain in charge of each one of the department's divisions.  The department's divisions consist of the Patrol Services Division and the Investigative Services Division. Captain Michael Petri is in charge of the Investigative Services Division and Captain Daniel Voltattorni is in charge of the Patrol Services Division. 

Meet The Administration

 

 

  Chief Lee Gavin

Chief Gavin was sworn in as the 11th Chief of Police of the Dearborn Heights Police Department on May 30, 2008. Chief Gavin is a lifelong resident of Dearborn Heights and is a graduate of Crestwood High School.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University and has a Master of Liberal Studies degree from Eastern Michigan University.  Chief Gavin is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University's School of Police Staff and Command.

 

 

Captain Michael Petri

 

Captain Petri was hired as a Police Cadet in 1987, promoted to the rank of Police Officer in 1988, Detective Sergeant in 1997 and then to his current position of Investigative Services Captain in 2015. During his tenure he has served as a Field Training Officer, Precision Driving and Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) Instructor, Advanced Evidence Technician, Undercover Operations/Narcotics Officer, Detective, and member of the Dearborn Heights Police Honor Guard. His academic endeavors include Associate and Bachelors Degrees in Criminal Justice from Madonna University, Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan, as well as being a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Captain Daniel Voltattorni

 

Captain Voltattorni began his career in law enforcement as a Police Cadet in 1987.  In his 24 years, he has served in a number of capacities, most recently as Uniform Division Lieutenant in charge of Special Investigations, Tactical Response Unit Commander, and Supervisor of the department's Directed Patrol Unit, DEA Task Force Officer and Range staff.  He holds a bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Madonna University, an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Henry Ford Community College and is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University School of Staff and Command.  Captain Voltattorni was sworn in on June 10, 2013.   

 

Captain Voltattorni currently resides in Dearborn Heights with his family.
